In Review: 3 Project Management Tool Tips for Marketing Teams

Marketing campaigns can be complex projects, Jennifer said. There are many different pieces to keep track of, regardless of the size of the campaign. But they can be managed.

A way to control those many moving parts is by using marketing project management software, with three features that Jennifer recommended as being crucial to managing any project.

  1. Templates for repeated tasks saves time and reduce errors
  2. Dashboards to help keep your campaign within budget
  3. Projects for clients or marketing campaigns

Any job that has a start and a finish is a project and can be run more efficiently with project management software. Marketing management is not an exception to this. You can use ProjectManager to keep track of all the tasks, costs, time and resources that you invest into your marketing campaigns.

Pro-Tip: Another way to manage projects better is by setting up tasks to trigger invoicing, paying or closing contracts when you’re milestones are met. You can also link those tasks if they’re dependent on one another.

Today we’re talking about three project management tool tips for marketing teams. And this is near and dear to my heart. Marketing teams can be very complex and the campaigns can, too.

So today, what I wanna talk about are some tips on how to make them more simple. So if you look at a marketing campaign, you can have so many different components, whether it’s a small marketing campaign or a large one, you still can have these different segments, but they could be managed internally or externally.

So someone has to manage what’s going on with the venue or the location, the actual event, maybe there’s a website portal, the actual launch, sponsors, partners, any kinda production, any kinda other marketing efforts. So as you can see, the different pieces can become complex, so we wanna leverage the tool to help us make that more simple. So here are three tips that I found helpful.

Number one is to use templates, specifically for repeat task. So if you have tasks that you’re doing on an ongoing basis, it number one saves time by leveraging the templates, but it also reduces errors. By leveraging a template, you can make sure to minimize overlooking or leaving out different things that are important.

Number two is to use dashboards for your budgets. A marketing campaigns, it’s not necessarily that your project runs over schedule, it’s usually that it runs over budget because it’s easy for different marketing collateral, different issues, or risks that come up that actually cost money, so you wanna leverage those dashboards to monitor those budgets very closely so you can keep them on track.

The third one is to use projects, your “Project” tab inside your tool to manage the marketing projects, either by clients or you can manage them by the individual marketing campaigns. I recommend doing it, however, it makes more sense for you and your projects.

But a bonus is I think you can set up the task to trigger different events once your milestones have been met. You can set up a task or an alert to trigger, to invoice, or make a payment, or even close out critical contracts.

So if you need a tool that can help you with your marketing teams, then sign up for our software now at ProjectManager.
